Naseby (PMA) - He was the first challenger of Patrick Pigneter this winter. Alex Gruber won the World Cup race at Deutschnofen, claimed the Silver medal at the World Championships in Austria and finished second in the Overall World Cup classification. This summer he is invited as guest coach in Naseby, New Zealand. While there is heat in Europe and the Northern hemisphere, New Zealand offers perfect condition for luge. “In the morning it has 9 degrees minus, so it is perfect for luge. The kids have a lot of motivation and the team of Geoff Balme has a great working spirit. We are training the whole week and on weekends there are the races”, tells Gruber. Also a lot of tourists joined the training sessions. Alex Gruber is also supported by the World Cup team of New Zealand. “Jack and Olivia Leslie and Tayla Ward had some good runs and they are training hard for the next World Cup season”, states Gruber.
