Altenberg set to be season highlight for Canada’s lugers

Altenberg (RWH) The Viessmann World Cup in Altenberg kicks off the new year and will be the highlight of the season for Canada’s lugers. This was agreed ahead of the current season between the Canada Luge Association and its partner, Own the Podium.
Own the Podium is a non-profit organisation that was established to support Canadian sliders and is now also responsible for calculating the amount of available funding.
As Canada’s head coach Wolfgang Staudinger has elected to skip the 49th World Championships of the International Luge Federation (FIL) in the Russian city of Sochi (14–16 February 2020) due to the inexperience of his young team, the funding level will be determined on the basis of the Altenberg results on 11–12 January 2020. Eligible Canadian starters including Trinity Ellis will also be competing at the Junior World Championships in Oberhof on 21–22 February 2020.
