Oberhof (RWH) Italy’s luge athletes searched their champions in Oberhof (GER) and there they crowned Andrea Vötter, Dominik Fischnaller and Emanuel Rieder-Simon Kainzwaldner. The Italian Championships took the form of a race-in-race event in tandem with the Championships of Thuringia.

Andrea Vötter won ahead of Verena Hofer and Marion Oberhofer, but was beaten in the overall standings by Julia Taubitz, who competes for Oberwiesental. In men’s race Dominik Fischnaller dismisses local hero Johannes Ludwig and won the Italian title followed by his cousin Kevin Fischnaller and Lukas Gufler. World Champions Toni Eggert-Sascha Benecken were a class of their own in doubles competition. Italy’s title went to Emanuel Rieder-Simon Kainzwaldner leaving behind Ivan Nagler-Fabian Malleier and Ludwig Rieder-Patrick Rastner on second and third place.
