Lausanne (pps/November 3, 2009) The International Olympic Committee, IOC, received no more than three bids to host the XXIII Olympic Winter Games. Annecy (France), Munich (Germany) and Pyeongchang (South Korea) were the only cities to submit their application to the IOC before the closing date on October 15.
It is the first bid for Annecy, France, while Munich already hosted Olympic Summer Games in 1972. Pyeongchang already submitted two bids for the Winter Games in 2010 and 2014 but failed each time.
The host city will be elected during the 123rd IOC Session in Durban, South Africa, on July 6, 2011.
