Anti-doping training for young lugers

NADA

Königssee (RWH) The International Luge Federation (FIL) has expanded its anti-doping programme and is now providing training for up-and-coming sliders. In late November a representative of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) gave the athletes competing in the Viessmann World Cup in Innsbruck a comprehensive briefing on the fight against doping.

The National Anti-Doping Agency (NADA) of Austria gave an anti-doping presentation for the Youth A and Junior squads in December 4 during the Junior World Cup in Königssee. With a view to the approaching Youth Olympic Games in Lausanne (SUI) in early January 2020,  it was explained the doping control procedures and informed athletes about which drugs are prohibited and their rights and obligations as regards doping controls. A total of  23 national associations with 159 athletes attended the lecture.

By arranging presentations of this kind, the FIL is reinforcing WADA’s “Say NO! to Doping” motto and demonstrating that education is crucial to the prevention of doping in sport.
