Consequences of doping: effects on emotions

Berchtesgaden (FIL/20 Feb 2023) A driver of intentional doping is for an athlete to improve their performance to achieve greater success in sport, but in doing so, success is only considered in terms of a result, not the emotions associated with it.

In Part 1 of the International Testing Agency (ITA) webinar mini-series, conducted in partnership with the University of Birmingham (UK), Olympic bronze medalist Goldie Sayers will share what success means and what it feels like for a clean athlete. In contrast, stories and emotions will be told by athletes who have succeeded despite doping.

We invite all athlete:s and their caregivers to join us and Dr. Philip Hurst, Lecturer in Sport and Exercise Psychology at Canterbury Christ Church University, for this interactive webinar to reflect on the consequences of doping and how it can affect an athlete's sense of success.

At the end of the session, we will take time to answer your questions live.

As always, we offer these webinars in English with simultaneous translation into four other languages - Arabic (العربي), Spanish (español), French (français), and Russian (русский).

Event date: Tuesday, February 28, 14:00 - 15:00 CET.
Panelists: Goldie Sayers OLY, ITA Education Ambassador and Dr. Philip Hurst, lecturer in sport and exercise psychology - Canterbury Christ Church University.
Moderator: Nikki Hamblin OLY, ITA Education Team
