Lake Placid (pps) Demonstrating his strength Italy’s Olympic Champion Armin Zöggeler won the Viessmann Luge World Cup at the Verizon Sports Complex at Lake Placid (USA). It was his 28th Victory, only Austria’s Markus Prock and Germany’s Georg Hackl have won more, both tied with 33. Zöggeler, five-time Wold Champion, finished with an advantage of more then six tenth of a second in a total time of one minute 47,434. Second Place went to USA’s Benshoof (1:48,063) followed by World Cup leader Albert Demtschenko (1.48,194) from Russia. In the overall standings Demtschenko is still in the lead with 410 points followed by Zöggeler (344) and Benshoof (325).
