Königssee (pps) Italy’s Olympic Champion Armin Zöggeler walks in the steps of record winning Markus Prock (Austria) and Georg Hackl (GER). The five-time World Champion won at the Viessmann Luge World Cup at Königssee (GER) his 29th race. Only Prock und Hackl won more, both 33. Second place behind Zöggeler (1:36,072) went to Tony Benshoof (1:36,180) from USA. With the best time of the day Georg Hackl (1:36,235) moved in the second heat from 8th place up to three. In the overall standings Zöggeler (444 points) is the new leader, because Russia’s Albert Demtschenko (410) crashed and made no points. Benshoof moved with 410 points up Demtschenko on second place.

Armin Zöggeler (ITA/ Olympic Champion and five-time World Champion)
„Due to the fog a lot of athletes had big problems in the first heat. I don’t think I’m the favourite for the Olympics; there are still Demtschenko and Benshoof. And if Hackl decided to compete, he is still good enough for a medal.

Tony Benshoof (USA)
„It is just a question of time to realize my first win. I’m totally happy. I’m not surprised about Hackl’s performance.

Georg Hackl (GER / three-time Olympic Champion)
„The second run has shown what was possible. In the first run I made one big mistake.”
