Armin Zöggeler is Italy’s nominee for IOC Athletes’ Commission

Rome (RWH) Armin Zöggeler, the only winter sports athlete in the world to have won an Olympic medal at six consecutive winter games, is now Italy’s nominee for the Athletes’ Commission of the International Olympic Committee (IOC). His nomination was recently confirmed by CONI, the Italian National Olympic Committee, in the Foro Italico in Rome. The IOC Athletes’ Commission will be elected during next year’s Winter Olympic Games in PyeongChang, Korea, from 9-25 February 2018.

Armin Zöggeler, who is currently the sporting director of the Italian luge team, is the all-time record holder of the International Luge Federation (FIL), with six World Championship titles to his name. He also clinched four European Championship titles and secured ten overall victories in the Viessmann World Cup. Between 1994 and 2014, Zöggeler claimed two gold, one silver, and three bronze medals at the Winter Olympics.
