Lana (RWH) Luge must be in their blood: last winter, Russian luger Victoria Demchenko, daughter of three-times Olympic silver medallist Albert Demchenko, was in the news with silver at both the World and European Junior Championships. And now the 14-year-old daughter of record-breaking World Champion Armin Zöggeler is following in her father’s footsteps, and has been chosen for the Italian athlete development programme in the 2015/2016 winter season. Two young talents from Austria whose fathers made names for themselves in the sport of luge also won medals last season: Nina Prock, daughter of two-times World Champion Markus Prock, and Nico Gleirscher, whose father is 1997 World Championship bronze medallist Gerhard Gleirscher, were both on the relay team that came third at the European Championships in Oberhof, Germany. Nico Gleirscher was also third at both the World Junior Championships and the European Junior Championships. His elder brother David took bronze in the World Junior Championships in Park City, USA, in 2013.
