Artificial ice track in Bludenz gets the go-ahead

Berchtesgaden (RWH) The artificial ice track in the Austrian town of Bludenz has just been given the go-ahead. New construction technology means that the new track is expected to be much less costly than in previous designs. The President of the Austrian Luge Federation, Dr Michael Bielowski from Innsbruck, informed Germany’s Josef Fendt, President of the International Luge Federation (FIL), of the latest developments on a visit to FIL headquarters in Berchtesgaden.
According to Bielowski, a company has been set up to construct and operate the innovative new artificial ice track in Bludenz. He will act as the managing director. Construction is due to begin by the end of 2016, with completion planned for autumn 2017.
The two men also discussed the current status of preparations for the 2017 FIL World Championships, due to be staged on the Olympic track in Innsbruck.
