Athletes of the Russian Federation suspended for the time being

Imst, Austria (FIL) On 24 September 2022, the Executive Board of the International Luge Federation (FIL) concluded its two-day autumn meeting in the Tyrolean winter sports resort of Imst. 

The Board discussed a wide range of items in anticipation of the upcoming season commencing in December. Of significant importance, the Executive Board discussed the continued impact of the Russian invasion of Ukraine and its effect on the 2022-23 world cup racing schedule. 

Because of reasons for the safety and security for the athletes, it was decided that the Russian athletes and their support team, are temporarily suspended from participating in FIL sanctioned events. The FIL will be closely monitoring the situation and will react as conditions evolve.
