Umhausen (FIL/07.02.2025) – The 955-metre-long Grantau track once again lived up to its reputation as a "classic," with the doubles teams battling it out right to the finish line. World champions Matthias Lambacher/Peter Lambacher (ITA) have evidently overcome their early-season struggles, securing their second win of the season in 1:12.52 minutes after their triumph in Mariazell (AUT). Italy’s success was completed by Tobias Paur/Andreas Hofer (ITA), who finished in second place (+0.21 seconds). Third place went to three-time season winners Maximilian Pichler/Nico Edlinger (AUT/+0.62), who had some issues with their equipment choice.
"It's great fun again – everything is finally coming together. We have worked hard and regained confidence in our equipment," analysed Matthias Lambacher after the race. In the overall standings, Pichler/Edlinger still lead with 455 points, followed by Lambacher/Lambacher (425) and Paur/Hofer (395).
On Saturday, the competition in Umhausen continues with the doubles eliminator race, where Pichler/Edlinger, Lambacher/Lambacher, and Paur/Hofer will face off only in the final. This will be followed by the fifth World Cup race for the women's and men's singles, before the singles competitors also take part in the only eliminator race of the season on Sunday.
The races in Umhausen will be streamed live on the official FIL website.
