Beijing 2022 outlines important year ahead

Lausanne (IOC/FIL) The Beijing 2022 Olympic Winter Games Organizing Committee presented a report outlining recent progress at the IOC Virtual Session on 12 March 2021.
Zhang Jiandong, Executive Vice President of Beijing 2022, and the Chairman of the IOC Beijing 2022 Coordination Commission, Juan Antonio Samaranch, briefed the IOC Session on the progress being made in China's preparations for next year's Olympic Winter Games.
With all twelve competition venues on schedule for completion by the end of 2020, Zhang explained that many of these facilities had been tested in recent weeks. These included activities for snow sports, which took place between 16 and 26 February in the Yanqing and Zhangjiakou zones and included 17 Winter Olympic events, three Winter Paralympic events and 14 special tests. Further testing activities for ice sports will be held in early April, with ten international test events and three international training weeks planned between October and December.
Executive Vice-President Zhang highlighted Beijing 2022's focus on safety for next year's Winter Olympics. The development of COVID 19 countermeasures planning remains a priority for the staging of the Games. It was also noted that playbooks are currently being developed for Beijing 2022.
