Altenberg (pps) US American Tony Benshoof and Austria’s Andreas Linger-Wolfgang Linger were the winners in the opening race of the SUZUKI Challenge Cup last Sunday at Cesana Pariol. Benshoof, bronze medallist in the World Cup event on the 2006 Olympic track, defeated Russia’s Viessmann World Cup title holder Albert Demchenko in the final while the Linger brothers beat Italy’s Gerhard Plankensteiner and Oswald Haselrieder. Benshoof as well as the Austrians, who won last season’s Viessmann World Cup opener at Altenberg, Germany, are the hot favourites for the next SUZUKI Challenge Cup competition at Altenberg on Friday (November 25, 9.00 hrs CET).
