Birgit Platzer, Nico Gleirscher and Kashkin/Korshunov first Winners of the new season

Insbruck-Igls (RWH) The first winners of the new luge season are Birgit Platzer, Nico Gleirscher (both from Austria) and Vsevolod Kashkin/Konstantin Korshunov (RUS).
At the Nations’s Cup, the qualification race for the Viessman Luge World cup this weekend on the Olympic track of Innsbruck-Igls, Birgit Platzer won in front of Germany’s Junior World Champion Jessica Tiebel and Raluca Stramaturaru from Romania, who finished on seventh place at the 2018 Olympic Winter Games of PyeongChang (KOR). As an additional starter of Germany Jessica Tiebel is not able to compete in the Viessmann World Cup.
In men’s race Nico Gleirscher of Austria, younger brother of Olympic Champion David Gleirscher, secured the victory. Second and third place went to Russia’s Aleksandr Gorbatcevich und Jonas Müller (AUT).
Vsevolod Kashkin/Konstantin Korshunov won the race of the doubles. Second and third place went to Italy’s Leon Felderer/Lukas Gufler and Chris Mazdzer/Jayson Terdiman (USA). The new duo compete for the first time since junior’s races long time ago together.
