Brittney Arndt, Mathis Ertl, Egle/Kipp and Kellogg/Segger the fastest in the Nations Cup in Park City

Park City (FIL/12/15/2022) Brittney Arndt (USA), Mathis Ertl (GER), Selina Egle / Lara Kipp and Dana Kellogg / Duncan Segger (USA) won the 3rd FIL Nations Cup on Thursday, December 15, 2022 on the 2002 Olympic track at Utah Olympic Park.

In light snowfall and wintry minus temperatures, local hero Brittney Arndt was the fastest luger in the Nations Cup in Park City in 44.591 seconds. The 24-year-old won ahead of Austria's Lisa Schulte (+0.130) and Arndt's teammate Ashley Farquharson (+0.160). Farquharon is 23 years young and also hails from Park City. "I'm having so much fun racing here at home. My run was also very good and I'm really looking forward to the World Cup race on Sunday," said Arndt, the 24-year-old winner. Her teammate Farquharson was no less thrilled with bronze: "It's so much fun to luge here, I just enjoy it. My whole family is here. It's the best."

In the men's event, Mathis Ertl was the fastest. With a run time of 46.226 seconds, the 22-year-old from Germany won ahead of Chris Mazdzer (USA/+0.030) and 22-year-old David Nössler (GER/+0.066) from Germany.  "It's getting better and better, but for my overall only sixth run here in Park City, that wasn't so bad. Now let's see what's possible for me at the World Cup tomorrow," said the 22-year-old winner from Altenberg. Local hero Chris Mazdzer was not so satisfied: "My run was not good. But I am very happy to be here and I will give my best tomorrow at the World Cup."

Nationscup Men's Doubels, Park City 2022

Women's doubles is the newest discipline in the EBERSPÄCHER World Cup. It will be on the program for the first time in February 2026 at the Winter Olympics in Milano-Cortina. The 3rd Nations Cup on December 15, 2022 in Park City was won by World Cup leaders Selina Egle and Lara Kipp (AUT) with the time of 44.576 seconds. World Cup winners a week earlier in Whistler (Canada) Andrea Vötter and Marion Oberhofer (ITA) finished second (+0.132) and World Champions Jessica Dengenhardt and Cheyenne Rosenthal of Germany were third, +0.286 seconds behind.

In the men's doubles, Dana Kellogg and Duncan Segger were the U.S. winners in 44.070 seconds on home ice. The previous week's Nations Cup winners in Whistler Devin Wardrope and Cole Zajaski (CAN) slided to second place, +0.555 seconds behind. The Latvian duo Eduards Sevics-Mikelsevics / Lukass Krasts (+0.583) finished third.
