Berchtesgaden (pps) The German Bobsleigh and Sled Sport Federation (BSD) has awarded Peter Grube, luge commentator at the German public rights television station ARD, with the „Richard Hartman Award“. Besides Grube, both Eurosport bobsleigh commentator Ron Ringguth and Torsten Teichert from the news agency sid also received the „Richard Hartmann Award“.

Grube was recognized for his live commentary at the Viessmann World Cup in January 2005 when the postponement of a biathlon World Cup due to bad weather had resulted in the longest ever live coverage of a luge race. Grube had found a way to announce runs of those athletes on the last places of the start list, whose name hardly anybody had heard before, in such an entertaining and exciting way that audience ratings rose from minute to minute, BSD stated.
