Whistler (pps) Steffi Sieger from Germany is the name of the first winner in Luge at “Whistler Sliding Center”. The winner of the Junior’s overall World Cup last season won the Nation’s cup at the Viessmann Luge World Cup at “Whistler Sliding Center”, the up-coming Olympic track for the Winter Games 2010 at Vancouver. Setting a new track record with 49.245 seconds Sieger got qualified for the women’s race on Friday (13.00 hrs local time / 22.00 hrs CET).
Second place went to Canada’s Regan Lauscher (+0,030 seconds) followed by current World Champion Erin Hamlin from the USA, just seven thousands of a second behind Lauscher. The Calgarian is going to celebrate her 29th birthday Saturday, February 21st.
