(RWH) Host nation Canada has clinched all titles at the 7th America-Pacific Championships in Calgary. The newly-crowned title winners on the Olympic track in Canada Olympic Park (COP) in Calgary were Alex Gough in the women’s event, Sam Edney in the men’s luge, and the doubles pairing of Tristan Walker/Justin Snith.

The two-time World Championship bronze medallist Alex Gough relegated her teammate Kimberley McRae to second place on the lugers’ home track. Bronze went to Summer Britcher (USA), the U23 World Champion of 2017.

In the doubles, Tristan Walker/Justin Snith fended off the American duo of Matt Mortensen/Jayson Terdiman who won last year in Park City and finished second this time around. The bronze medal went to the US duo of Justin Krewson/Andrew Sherk.

The men’s event culminated in a Canadian one-two. Sam Edney, runner-up in the Viessmann World Cup, clinched the title ahead of compatriot Mitchel Malyk, who achieved his best ever finish of fourth place in a Viessmann World Cup. Malyk previously finished fourth in the BMW Sprint World Cup three years ago. Chris Mazdzer of the United States clinched bronze.
