Park City (RWH) Two-time Olympic Champion Felix Loch has apparently forgotten what it takes to win. American Chris Mazdzer has taken his second victory in succession, while four-time World Champion Loch from Germany took third place behind Austrian Wolfgang Kindl at the Viessmann World Cup in Park City, the third round of the 2015/16 winter season. azdzer, who won the sprint in Calgary last winter, celebrated the third singles success of his career in the Viessmann World Cup just one week after his victory at Lake Placid.
Meanwhile, Felix Loch has been waiting to reach the top step of the podium for four Viessmann World Cup events in succession. The 26-year-old had to settle for second place at last winter’s season finale in Sochi, was disqualified from the season opener in Innsbruck due to an overweight sled, and dropped back to sixth place in Lake Placid due to a driving error having lead at half-time.
Quotes
Chris Mazdzer (USA / sixth in 2015 World Championships)
“This is so exciting. Two wins in a row and in front of my home crowd. The pressure was enormous and the first corner was so difficult for everyone.”
Wolfgang Kindl (AUT / World Championship bronze medallist in 2015 and Junior World Champion 2008)
“Everything is going really well, and I’m not actually doing anything differently from last year." But when things are going well, it gives you a different feeling on the sled, a completely different level of self-confidence.”
Felix Loch (GER / 2010 and 2014 Olympic Champion and four-time World Champion)
“I’m happy with third place and glad that we dealt with the tricky first corner without any issues. We all know when the main event of the season is on the calendar, so I’m not worried at the moment.”
