Berchtesgaden (pps) At the 54th Congress of the International Luge Federation (FIL), USA’s Claire DelNegro was awarded the FIL medal of honor in silver. At the beginning of the general assembly at the Intercontinental Resort in Berchtesgaden, the Vice-President for Sport received the award from the hands of FIL President Josef Fendt.
Italy’s Edo Rean was awarded the medal of honor in gold for more than 25 years of commitment in a FIL expert commission.

Einar Hellum from Norway, a member of a luge and bobsleigh club for more than 70 years, and Sepp Lenz (Germany), who has ended his work for the FIL track construction commission after numerous years, received FIL certificates of honor. Germany’s head coach Thomas Schwab was honored for his commitment regarding the partnership with Switzerland and received the FIL medal of honor in bronze. In recognition of his achievements as competition sport manager at the 2006 Olympic Winter Games in Turin, the same award also went to Ivo Ferriani as well as to Poland’s Marek Skowronski for many years of commitment to the sport of luge.

With the FIL medal of honor in bronze, Hansueli Habegger (Switzerland), Hans Sparber (Italy), Aivars Kalnins and Andris Svalbwe (both Latvia) as well as Poland’s Dariusz Ziarno were recognized.
