Commissions of the FIL initiate development

Berchtesgaden (RWH) The various commissions of the International Luge Federation (FIL) have initiated a development for the future. Due to the corona virus (COVID-19), the annual meetings took place in the form of individual video conferences. All proposals of the commissions as well asapplications   of the member organisations will be forwarded to the Executive Board of the FIL. The Executive Board will hold its next meeting in a video conference at mid-May.

Following the successful premiere at the Olympic Youth Games 2020 in Lausanne (SUI), there will be a proposal of the introduction of women’s doubles in Junior World Cup races in the upcoming winter. In the 2021/2022 season, women’s doubles competition is also planned as part of the Luge World Cup.

During the two-day meetings, in which President Josef Fendt (GER) and Secretary General Einars Fogelis (LAT) also took part, the way of realization turned out to be very efficient. “The video conferences have been very helpful,” said Executive Director Christoph Schweiger, who was responsible for the organization.
