Sarajevo (RWH)  The Olympic city of Sarajevo is to host a course for trainers organised by the Luge Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina under the auspices of President Senad Omanovic. The six-day course, which is set to begin on 11 September, is supported by the International Olympic Committee’s Solidarity Fund and the National Olympic Committee of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The International Luge Federation (FIL) is providing two speakers in the form of Sports Director Maria Luise Rainer and Karl Brunner (both ITA), a renowned sled construction expert and long-time trainer. The eight national associations of the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland, Croatia, Slovenia, Serbia, Bulgaria and the host country have confirmed their involvement. The course will focus on sled construction, preparation, driving technique, regulations, and athletic training in summer and winter.

Thanks to the initiative of the National Association of Bosnia & Herzegovina, the Olympic track at Mount Trebević built for the 1984 Winter Games, is partially usable again for luge runs on roller sleds in the summer months.
