Dajana Eitberger happy about success in Park City - huge jubilation for US girls

Dajana Eitberger, Park City 2022

Park City (FIL/17 Dec 2022) The series of Madeleine Egle is broken. In the ice track of Park City the Austrian, who had won all races in the EBERSPÄCHER Luge World Cup this season, had not found the right line in the first run. After finishing eighth, the Austrian was able to improve to sixth place.

The undisputed winner on the 2002 Olympic track was Dajana Eitberger. For the German it was the eighth World Cup success, the first since her 2021 triumph in Oberhof. "Greetings to my son Levi, who was watching at home," Eitberger said, "I fell in love with this technically difficult track in 2013 on my first visit here." She posted the fastest time in both runs.

Women Podium Park City 2022

At least as happy as Eitberger was U.S.-based Emily Sweeney. Second in the World Cup standings behind Germany's Eitberger, she not only won the America Pacific Championships for the third time, but also achieved the first podium for the U.S. team this weekend after two fourth-place finishes by Tucker West in the men's event and the women's double Summer Britcher/Emily Sweeny. The mood among the visitors at the track as well as the riders was accordingly. At the awards ceremony, Sweeney, Brittney Arndt and Ashley Farquharson sang along fervently with the anthem, as did the spectators at the track.
