Dajana Eitberger, Tucker West, Degenhardt/Rosenthal and Wardrope/Zajanski win the Nations Cup in Whistler

Whistler (FIL/08.12.2022) Dajana Eitberger (GER), Tucker West (USA), Jessica Degenhardt / Cheyenne Rosenthal and Devin Wardrope / Cole Zajanski (CAN) won the FIL Nations Cup on Thursday, December 8, 2022 at Whistler Sliding Centre, the Olympic track of Vancouver 2010.
Dajana Eitberger was the fastest female luge athlete in the Nations Cup in 38.856 seconds. The German silver medalist from PyeongChang 2018 won ahead of Austria's Lisa Schulte (+0.114) and Eitbergers teammate Merle Fräbel (+0.124). "I am happy about the Nations Cup victory in Whistler. The first training run here took a lot of getting used to. This is not European ice here, this is North American ice. In these conditions, the field often mixes up a bit and that makes it more exciting and thrilling. It's interesting to see how the young athletes here handle these conditions. I'm looking forward to the World Cup race tomorrow," said the 31-year-old from Thuringia.
In the men's race, the US American Tucker West was the fastest. With a run time of 50.147 seconds, the three-time Olympian won ahead of his teammate Chris Mazdzer (+0.228) and Australian Alex Ferlazzo (+0.281). "It feels good. We had a very short week here with few runs. I like Whistler. The track is fast and very fun. It's a North American track, so I feel at home here. Hopefully everything will come together well for the World Cup race tomorrow," said the 27-year-old from Ridgefield, Conn.
