Lausanne/Lillehammer (pps) The second Youth Olympic Winter Games (YOG) will take place two weeks earlier in February 2016. The International Olympic Committee (IOC) and the YOG Organising Committee of the host city Lillehammer (NOR) determined the new date from 12 February to 21 February 2016. The date has a high symbolic value: Exactly 22 years ago, the XVII Olympic Winter Games were opened in Lillehammer on 12 February 1994. The Youth Olympic Games are a sporting event for young athletes aged from 15 to 18 and - just as the Olympic Games - take place every four years. In Innsbruck 2012, at the first Youth Olympic Winter Games, athletes from 69 National Olympic Committees participated. In the luge events medals will be awarded in the women’s and men’s singles, in the doubles and in the Team Relay Event.
