Calgary (pps) David Möller is the real specialist for the Olympic track at Calgary (Canada). Germany’s World Champion from 2004 celebrated his 3rd success in Viessmann Luge World Cup at the Canada Olympic Park (COP), the 4th overall in his career. Möller realized best times in both runs and won in a total time of one minute 29.355 seconds followed by Latvia’s Olympic Bronze Medallist Martins Rubenis (1:29.533) and Stefan Hoehener (1:29.663) from Switzerland.
Italy’s two-time Olympic Champion Armin Zöggeler (1:29.738), who won the last two races at Cesana and Park City, finished 4th. Austria’s Daniel Pfister (1:29.850) and local hero Jeff Christie (1:29.864) completed the colourful picture of the first six positions with six different nations.
In the overall standings Zöggeler (260) is still in the lead followed by Möller (245) and Höhener (190), who will not compete next weekend at the Viessmann Luge World Cup at Nagano (Japan).
Quotes:
David Möller (World Champion 2004)
„I have no secret concerning the track in Calgary. I love to drive here, I’m in a very good shape, and my sled is running well. This success is very important for the young German team in men’s singles in the first year without Georg Hackl.”
Martins Rubenis (Bronze medallist at the 2006 Olympics)
„After the disqualification in Challenge Cup at park City I was a little bit in confusion. My goal for this season is to compete in all World Cup events, because I never did this before.”
Stefan Höhener (6th place at the Worlds 2005)
„I get familiar to be on the podium. I’m not very angry not to compete in Nagano. I’d love to drive there, but I’m happy not to have the trouble with the travel to Japan.“
