Berchtesgaden (pps) When Berchtesgaden, Germany, will host the 54th Congress of the International Luge Federation, FIL, on June 29-30, the luge family will meet for the third time in this Bavarian market community. Berchtesgaden previously staged the FIL Congresses in 1979 and 1985. “I am pleased that this Congress will take place at my home town. That’s something special, of course, “ said FIL President Josef Fendt, managing director of the municipality of Berchtesgaden.

Davos in Switzerland not only is the founding place of the International Luge Federation, but also hosted four Congresses (1954, 1957, 1965, 2003) thus leading in organising the annuals meetings. Three Congresses each were staged by Innsbruck (1964, 1977, 1993) and Imst (1956, 1963, 1978) in Austria in addition to Berchtesgaden. Innsbruck will equalize Davos next year by hosting the Congress on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of FIL. The 54 annual assemblies of FIL were held in altogether 15 countries.
