Oberhof (pps) Russia’s Olympic silver medalist Albert Demtschenko will be at the start at the Viessmann World Cup in Oberhof. The 2006 European Champion crashed in curve nine and suffered a serious arm injury, not allowing him to race in the Viessmann World Cup and in the Suzuki Challenge Cup on Friday.
Demtschenko, currently third-placed in the overall results behind Italy’s Armin Zöggeler and Germany’s David Möller, crashed after a driving mistake. On his own request, he was not brought to hospital, but to the Russian team hotel. On Friday morning, the Russian team captain declared that Demtschenko would not start. It is currently not clear whether Demtschenko will participate in the Viessmann World Cup in Altenberg at the coming weekend.
