Lake Placid (pps) Due to a hairline fracture in the right ankle three-time Olympic Champion Georg Hackl from Germany cannot compete at the Viessmann World Cup in Luge in Lake Placid (USA). The injury happened Thursday during his training run, when the three-time World Champion hit the wall after curve ten. “This was a little bit unlucky, because normally he wears protection during training”, Germany`s headcoach Thomas Schwab said. Hackl will travel home on Friday for observation by team doctor Dr. Volker Jägemann. Schwab: “After this observation we will decide, whether Hackl can start in Calgary or not.” The Viessmann World Cup in Calagary will take place on December 10th and 11th. Hackl started in the preolympic season with 5th (Altenberg/Ger) and 7th places (Sigulda (Lat) the best in many years. “I have made good progress in my material during summer”, he said in Sigulda.
