Ekaterina Baturina, West und Chmielewski/ Kowalewski Nationencup-Winner

Sieger 19 Nationen Oberhof

Oberhof (RWH) Russia’s Ekaterina Baturina, Tucker West (USA) and Poland’s pair of  Wojciech Chmielewski/Jakub Kowalewski are the winner of Nationscup in Oberhof, Germany. At the qualification race for Viessmann World cup this weekend Ekaterina Baturina relegated her team-mate Ekaterina Katnikova to second place. Natalie Maag from Switzerland come in on third place.  

In men’s race Tucker West won ahead of Maksim Aravin (RUS) und Nico Gleirscher, the younger brother of Austria’s Olympic Champion David Gleirscher. Behind Chmielewski/Kowalewski the Germany’s pairs of Florian Löffler/Florian Berkes and Nico Semmler/Johannes Pfeiffer finished second and third. But both sleds are not allowed to compete in Viessmann World Cup because they are additional starters of the host nation.

Aileen Frisch from Korea, who finished on 8th place at the 2018 Olympic Winter Games in Korea, crashed and was transported to the hospital of Suhl. Race doctor Gerhard Franke later spoke of „different kind of injuries”.
