Embyr-Lee Susko and Dylan Morse win Canadian Luge Championships in Whistler

Whistler (FIL/09 Mrz. 2024) Embyr-Lee Susko and Dylan Morse win titles at the Canadian Luge Championships on Saturday, March 9, 2024 at the Whistler Sliding Center.
Embyr-Lee Susko successfully defended her Canadian Luge Championship titles on the 2010 Olympic track, capping off a groundbreaking season. The 18-year-old from Whistler, B.C., solidified her position as the best female luge athlete in the country with a time of 1:19.24 in wet and warm conditions. "It was a good race today. I put my head way down, had fun and was able to put down two good runs, so I'm happy," said Susko.
Susko had already won three Junior World Cup races in a row at the start of the 2023/2024 season, the last of which was on the 2010 Olympic track where she learned to luge and grew up. She took this momentum into her debut in the EBERSPAECHER World Cup in Whistler, where she finished ninth straight away.

Susko went on to achieve consistent results and won a silver medal at the Junior World Championships in Lillehammer, Norway. She also finished second overall in the Junior World Cup singles and third in the Junior World Cup doubles, together with Beattie Podulsky. With the women's doubles, the two juniors were also part of the Canadian team's third place overall in the team relay.
Kailey Allan from Calgary finished second with a time of 1:19.460 minutes. Midori Holland, who did not compete at the EBERSPAECHER World Cup in Whistler in December but finished third at the Nations Cup, was again on the bronze medal podium at the national championships on March 9 with a time of 1:19.468.
Dylan Morse from Calgary became Canadian champion in the men's singles. The 19-year-old achieved a time of 1:44.351. "I put in two consistent runs. My main focus this season has been to put in consistent runs as often as possible, so this was a symbolic way to end the season," said Morse. "I'm looking forward to improving my start, building muscle over the summer and coming back stronger next year."
