Utica Hall of Fame

Utica (RWH) Erin Hamlin, most successful luge athlete of the US federation, is one of the latest members of the Greater Utica Sports Hall of Fame. The Bronze Medalist of the 2014 Olympic Winter Games will be honored when the Hall of Fame holds its 30th annual induction banquet on June 9 at Delta Hotels in Utica. The town is part of the Mohawk Valley between the Adirondak Mountains with Lake Placid and its artificial luge track and the Catskill Mountains. Hamlin, who was the first female World Champion in Luge of the US, was born in Rensom, New York.

Hamlin competed at four Olympic Winter Games, won six national championships, and collected two gold and two silver medals in World Championship competitions. In 2014 she won a bronze medal at the Olympics in Sochi, becoming the first American luger to medal in singles and the first American women ever to medal. She capped her career with the honor of being the flag bearer for Team USA at the PyeongChang Olympics in 2018.
