PyeongChang (RWH) Erin Hamlin’s face really displayed pride and joy when the 2014 Olympic bronze medalist led the US team as flag bearer during the opening ceremony of the Olympic winter games at PyeongChang, Korea. „I was pretty nervous with butterflies in the stomach“, the 2009 World Champion admitted. „It has been a great honor for me to lead the US team to the opening ceremony.“

Erin Hamlin had been selected by draw. Apart from the first-ever Luge World champion in US history Shani Davis, the first afro-american Olympic champion over 1,000 meters had been nominated. When they both had the same number of votes  from the US team’s athletes representatives, the final decision in favor of the 2017 sprint World champion had to be taken by coin toss.
