First Female World Champion from USA Lake Placid (pps) Erin Hamlin from Remsen (New York) wrote a chapter of Luge history. The 22 Year old girl won for the first time ever Gold in women`s race for the USA at the World Championships of the International Luge Federation. Erin Hamlin realized a new track record (43,985 seconds) in the second run and won in a total time of one minute 28,098 seconds. So far, her best result ever was forth place at the Viessmann World Cup at Igls this winter.
Silver went to Germany’s Natalie Geisenberger (0,187 seconds back) followed by Natalie Yakuschenko (0,236 seconds back) from Ukraine). Canada’s Alex Gough realized fourth place (0,517 seconds back). It was the best result ever for the 21 year old girl from Calgary.
Defending Champion Tatjana Hüfner from Germany realized just sixth place (0,128 back).
