Berlin (pps) Luge fans can experience the start of the Viessmann Luge World Cup live on TV from Park City, Utah. Eurosport will transmit live from Utah Olympic Park on both competition days from 22:00-23:00 hrs CET. On Saturday, the women’s and doubles’ events will be determined, on Sunday the men’s. The public German TV station ZDF will show a report within their sports show “Sport Extra”. In North America, NBC will show a summary of the races on the site of the 2002 Olympic Winter Games.
Compared to last season, Eurosport has greatly extended its coverage with at least
16 hours from the post-Olympic winter. Eurosport will also show the second event of
the Viessmann Luge World Cup in Calgary live from 23:00-23:00 hrs CET.
At the centre: Mark Grimmette and Brian Martin
Park City (pps) Since the Olympic bronze medallists Chris Thorpe and Clay Ives have retired, Mark Grimmette and Brian Martin will be at the centre of attraction at the start of the Viessmann Luge World Cup in Park City. The doubles that won their second Olympic silver medal in Salt Lake City after Nagano 1998, carry the hopes of the Americans. It’s just a lucky chance that the two lugers are still competing as they had not been selected to the American team in the 1996-97 season. But they travelled to the World Cup in Lillehammer at their own cost, finished in second and third position and thus made their way back into the US squad.
