Evelin Lanthaler and Dominik Fischnaller receive awards

Bolzano (FIL/17 Oct. 2022) South Tyrol has voted: Wierer and Sinner are athletes of the year, two lugers make it into the top six.

More than 40,000 votes were cast by the readers of the Tagblatt Dolomiten and SportNews.bz, and now it has been decided: Biathlon queen Dorothea Wierer and tennis youngster Jannik Sinner are South Tyrol's athletes of the year 2022. It is particularly pleasing for the International Luge Federation FIL that World Champion Evelin Lanthaler from the natural track made it to fourth place among the women and Olympic bronze medallist Dominik Fischnaller from the artificial track made it to sixth place and thus into the top ranks. 

South Tyrol's best athletes were awarded prizes at the Sporthilfe Gala in the H1 Eventspace of the Bolzano Exhibition Centre. While Dorothea Wierer received the trophy for Sportswoman of the Year for the fifth time, Jannik Sinner was able to defend his title from the previous year. FIL Natural Track luge press spokesman Ivo Zorzi guided through the evening competently and eloquently as the presenter and was pleased: "For me it was of course especially nice to have two lugers on stage".
