Munich (pps) Luge coverage on German television has once again resulted in excellent viewing figures. The women’s singles medal event of the XXI Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver, Canada, was watched by almost six million television viewers. According to information from the television network Bayerischer Rundfunk (BR) based in Munich, this corresponds to a market share of 25.6 per cent and rank 34 on the top 50 hit list of the German public rights television stations ARD and ZDF.
The coverage of both the men’s singles and doubles events also pulled very good ratings. The men’s singles final run reached a market share of 30.3 per cent (1.82 million viewers). Before, the third run had already been watched by 5.32 million viewers (market share: 17.1 per cent) on ZDF. The doubles competition as the last Olympic luge event 2010, which was broadcasted in the middle of the night, reached a market share of 22.6 per cent.
