Liwadija (pps) The expert knowledge of the two record winners in the Viessmann World Cup, Georg Hackl from Germany and Markus Prock from Austria, will remain available to the International Luge Federation even after the end of their careers as luge athletes. At its fall meeting in Liwadija (Ukraine), the FIL Executive Board appointed the three-time Olympic champion from Berchtesgaden and the two-time World Champion from Tyrol in Austria, to two expert commissions.
While Hackl will contribute to the Technical Commission with his store of knowledge, Prock will be part of the Sport Commission in the future. Prock, who works for the Austrian luge federation as Sport Coordinator, had finished his career after winning bronze at the 2002 Olympic Winter Games in Salt Lake City. Hackl, who won two Olympic silver medals in addition to his three Olympic gold medals, will be employed by the German federation (BSD) as a coach. He had ended his career after the 2006 Olympic Winter Games in Turin. Both have won the Viessmann World Cup 33 times making them record winners in men’s singles luge.
