In Umhausen/Ötztal at the weekend took place the Junior Luge European Championships on Natural Track. The favorites won the gold medals, but there has also been some surprise.

UMHAUSEN On the first day of the competition - on Saturday - the doubles run schendule. The favorites Fabian Achenrainer / Miguel Brugger (AUT) prevailed in 1: 2,80 minutes in a sovereign manner against Myroslav Lenko / Andriy Hirnyak (UKR). The bronze medal took the Russians Kirill Kravchuk / Ciacheslav Kurdriavtsev (+0.84 seconds). The surprise of the competiton: Slovenians Bine Mekina / Blaz Mekina on 5th place.

The women also had a favorite win on Sunday by Daniela Mittermair. The Italian is in the lead after the first run on Saturday and so the second run in a safe way. With a gap of 0.39 seconds ago teammate Alexandra Pfattner (ITA) follows in front of Lisa Walch from Germany. Notable 15-year-old Riccarda Ruez (AUT). In her first Junior European Championship, the Tyrolean finished on 4th place.

Fabian Achenrainer (AUT) took the gold medal ahead of Florian Haselrieder (ITA) and Fabian Brunner (ITA). The top favorite was fastest in both runs and had a lead of 0.67 seconds in front of Haselrieder. A solid performance for the German Oliver Schiller in 5th place.
