Königssee (RWH) Felix Loch has moved back into the fast lane in the heavy snow falling on Königssee. The German Olympic Champion had only made it to the top step of the podium at the opening races in Innsbruck-Igls so far this season. But here in Königssee, at the fourth stop in the Viessmann Luge World Cup, he came first in the sixth World Cup race being held this post-Olympic winter. It is also his 21st victory in a Viessmann World Cup. The four-times World Champion, whose victory was the third on his home track, beat his teammate and former European World Champion Andi Langenhan down to second. Third place went to US luger Chris Mazdzer, whose last victory was in the Sprint World Cup in Calgary. After six of twelve races, 25-year-old Felix Loch is at the top of the overall Viessmann World Cup rankings with 463 points. Dominik Fischnaller of Italy, who came 13th in Königssee, is in second with 366 points and Andi Langenhan is third with 323 points. The fifth stop in the Viessmann World Cup will be held in Oberhof in the Thuringian Forest on 17–18 January 2015. Quotes Felix Loch (GER / 2010 and 2014 Olympic Champion, four-times World Champion) “Winning in front of such a great audience is fantastic. I had two really good runs that couldn’t be faulted. I got through Christmas without putting on weight, but didn’t lose any, either. I was a bit ill, but that’s all.” Andi Langenhan (GER / 2013 World Championship silver medallist, 2011 World Championship bronze medallist and 2012 European Champion) “I’m very happy. At last I made no mistakes at all. Now I’m looking forward to the race on my home track in Oberhof.” Chris Mazdzer (USA / Fifth in overall Viessmann World Cup rankings in 2013/2014) “This is my first podium in Europe. And then on the Königssee track, the heart of German luge. That’s great.”
