Felix Loch celebrates his comeback as winner

Felix Loch, Winterberg 2025

Winterberg (FIL/06 Dec 2025) Felix Loch has started his 20th World Cup season at the EBERSPAECHER Luge World Cup in Winterberg. But the 36-year-old German is far from being past his prime. He had the best start time in both runs and also clocked the fastest time twice at the end of the 1324-meter ice track. His time was 1:43.160 minutes. “Felix was extremely strong today,” praised Jonas Müller, “especially the first run was simply tremendous.” The Austrian, who was the superior winner at the Olympic test event in Cortina d'Ampezzo a week ago, finished second, nine hundredths of a second behind. Although 28-year-old did not finish without mistakes, he was satisfied. World champion Max Langenhan followed in third place, 0.268 seconds behind. “Jonas skied well, Felix even better,” was the German's conclusion. The next places were taken by the two Austrians Nico Gleirscher (0.300 seconds behind) and Wolfgang Kindl (0.463) as well as Kristers Aparjods (Latvia/0.537).

He also tweaked his sled once again. “I'm most happy that this was another real step forward,” said the three-time Olympic champion. “The start is going well, which is the most important thing. Jonas and Max are much younger, they're real fast starters. I'm really happy that I'm still right up there at the front.” He said of his runs: “I knew I just had to go down reasonably straight.” If only it were that simple...
