Oberhof (pps) Germany’s Felix Loch wrote a new chapter of Luge history. The 18 year old German won at the 40th World Championships in Oberhof his first title and advanced the youngest World Champion ever. The two-time Junior World Champion won in a total time of one minute 30,643 seconds. Silver went to his team-mate and defending Champion David Möller (0,074 back). Andi Langenhan (0,171 back) captured the Bronze Medal. Germany’s triumph was completed by Jan Eichhorn (0,491 back), who finished fourth.
Italy’s Olympic Champion Armin Zöggeler had nothing to do with the distribution of the medals. The five-time World Champion finished on 5th place.
Quotes
Felix Loch (GER / Junior World Champion 2006 and 2007)
“I can’t believe it. It is great. But this title will not change my travel plan: On Monday I will fly to Lake Placid to compete at the Junior’s World Championships.”
David Möller (GER / World Champion 2004, 2007 and 2008)
“It is the same story like it happened to me 2004 in Nagano. In those times I drove without any pressure to the title. Felix is now the man to beat.”
Jan Eichhorn (GER / Bronze Medallist 2007)
„I’m overwhelmed.“
