Lima (RWH) President Josef Fendt from Germany and Secretary General Svein Romstad from the USA are set to represent the International Luge Federation (FIL) at the 131st Session of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) in the Peruvian capital of Lima. The venue for the 2024 Summer Olympic Games will be selected at the general assembly on 13 September 2017. An IOC press release has indicated that Paris (FRA) will be given the nod, with Los Angeles (USA) to follow as host of the 2028 Summer Games.

The IOC has announced that the LA organisers will receive $1.8 billion in the short and medium term for schemes aimed at promoting youth sport. An agreement between the two cities of Paris and Los Angeles and the IOC still has to be approved by the general assembly of IOC members in the Peruvian capital Lima. The decision is expected to be a mere formality.

Ahead of the IOC Session, Fendt and Romstad will attend a meeting of the Association of International Olympic Winter Sports Federations (AIOWF) and meet the organisers of the Youth Olympic Games 2020 in Lausanne (SUI). The IOC Executive Board will meet on 11/12 September.
