FIL announces media partnership with Warner Bros. Discovery – Launch of the Olympic Season 2025/2026
Live broadcasts in Germany, Austria, and Latvia remain in place
Berchtesgaden (FIL/06 Nov 2025) The International Luge Federation (FIL) has entered into a new, comprehensive media partnership with Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD). During the 2025/2026 Olympic season, the EBERSPÄCHER Luge World Cups will be broadcast on Eurosport and on the Discovery+ and HBO Max streaming platforms.
With this agreement, the FIL is increasing the visibility of luge in the crucial phase leading up to the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan-Cortina.
Luge will be available on WBD channels and platforms across Europe with localized coverage and commentary on all major World Cup events throughout the season. The races will be broadcast live on Eurosport across Europe and on TNT Sports in the UK and Ireland. Eurosport has been bringing the competitions to an enthusiastic winter sports audience for 35 years.
Comprehensive streaming coverage will also be available to HBO Max and discovery+* subscribers (digital coverage excludes Austria, Germany, and Latvia). In addition, WBD's digital platforms – including Eurosport.com and TNTSports.co.uk, which together reach more than 28 million users per month – will feature editorial articles and additional content about the sport of luge and its athletes throughout the year.
Luge now forms part of WBD’s enhanced premium winter sports offer for the 2025/2026 season with a view to collaborating with the FIL on a longer-term basis as part of the run up to the Olympic Winter Games French Alps 2030. WBD's extensive winter sports portfolio currently features coverage of 13 different sports such as alpine skiing, biathlon and ski jumping, and every World Cup and World Championship event (excluding the Nordics, rights vary per market) in addition to all 116 medal events from the upcoming Olympic Winter Games Milano Cortina 2026.
Trojan Paillot, SVP, Sports Rights Acquisitions and Syndication at WBD Sports Europe, said: “We are known as the home of winter sports and have built a proud reputation over several decades for our dedication to covering every story from more sports, events and athletes throughout the winter season than any other broadcaster.
“We’re pleased to have partnered with the FIL to feature the Luge World Cup in our boosted live winter sports offer for fans. Luge will feature as part of our road to Milano Cortina 2026 with the Olympic Winter Games returning to Europe, providing even more opportunities to engage fans following a monumental Olympic Games Paris 2024 where we connected the Games to more viewers than ever before.”
FIL President Einars Fogelis stated: “With this cooperation, we are reaching our loyal fans in Europe’s traditional luge markets. The combination of the well-established Eurosport brand and the global reach of the streaming platforms discovery+ and HBO Max represents an important step toward greater visibility, professionalism, and attractiveness for our sport.”
FIL Secretary General Dwight Bell added: “North America will be broadcasting the North American World Cups. In addition, FIL will once again be offering its own YouTube livestream with English commentary outside Europe during the Olympic season, and we are still working on additional streaming options in Asia.”
