FIL announces media partnership with Warner Bros. Discovery – Launch of the Olympic Season 2025/2026
Live broadcasts in Germany, Austria, and Latvia remain in place

Berchtesgaden (FIL/16 October 2025) The International Luge Federation (FIL) has signed a new, comprehensive media partnership with Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD). In the Olympic Season 2025/2026, the EBERSPÄCHER Luge World Cups will be broadcast live on Eurosport and streamed via Discovery+ and HBO Max.
With this agreement, the FIL is expanding the global visibility of luge in the decisive phase leading up to the Olympic Winter Games Milano Cortina 2026.
Increased reach across Europe and worldwide
The agreement guarantees linear television coverage on Eurosport across all European countries. In addition, the competitions will be streamed live and on-demand on Discovery+ (within Europe) and HBO Max (outside Europe).
Due to broadcasting rights restrictions, the streaming offer will be limited in Germany, Austria, and Latvia, where Eurosport remains the main platform for luge fans. National broadcasters ARD/ZDF (Germany), ORF (Austria) and TV5 Latvia will continue to provide live coverage of all EBERSPÄCHER Luge World Cups.
FIL President Einars Fogelis stated: “With this cooperation, we are not only reaching our loyal fans in Europe’s traditional luge markets, but also opening the door to new audiences around the world – especially in North and South America.
The combination of the well-established Eurosport brand and the global reach of the streaming platforms Discovery+ and HBO Max represents an important step toward greater visibility, professionalism, and attractiveness for our sport. We want to share the fascination of luge on ice with an even wider audience worldwide.”
Enhanced experience for fans
Thanks to the new agreement, fans can follow the spectacular races live on TV or flexibly via streaming. Streaming subscriptions start at around €5.90 per month.
Looking ahead to the Olympic Winter Games 2026, the FIL is sending a strong signal: luge will be live and on-demand, on television and online, locally and globally – the fastest winter sport on ice is ready to reach new audiences.
Luge joins WBD’s expanded winter sports portfolio
Live luge broadcasts will be shown exclusively on WBD channels and platforms in 45 European markets – with localized commentary and production, except in Austria, Germany, Switzerland, and Latvia.
In addition, the digital platforms Eurosport.com and TNTSports.co.uk – which together attract more than 28 million users per month – will feature year-round editorial coverage and stories about the athletes of the sport of luge.
Luge now becomes part of WBD’s premium winter sports offering, which includes coverage of 13 different sports such as Alpine Skiing, Biathlon, and Ski Jumping. The extensive rights portfolio also covers all World Cup and World Championship events (with the exception of Nordic disciplines, depending on the market), as well as all 116 medal events of the Olympic Winter Games Milano Cortina 2026.
Trojan Paillot, SVP Sports Rights Acquisitions and Syndication at WBD Sports Europe, added: “We are proud to be known as the home of winter sports. Through our partnership with the FIL, we are expanding our live sports offering and looking forward to an extraordinary winter sports season – culminating with Milano Cortina 2026, when the Olympic Games return to Europe and once again inspire fans across the continent.”
