IOC launches "Let's Move" initiative on Olympic Day 2023

Lausanne (FIL/13 June 2023) The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has announced a new global initiative to inspire and motivate the world to be more active in everyday life. Led by Olympians and launched in partnership with the World Health Organization (WHO), the "Let's Move" initiative will kick off on Olympic Day, June 23, with a call to take time to move.
On June 23, the Olympic Movement encourages and supports people around the world to make time for physical activity in their daily lives, no matter how or where. Olympians Pau Gasol, Yusra Mardini, Allyson Felix and PV Sindhu - to name just a few of the participating athletes - are inviting people to take 30 minutes to move with them and join the Let's Move Olympic Day digital workout from anywhere in the world.
The FIL is calling on its athletes to participate in the "Let's Move" campaign by posting their workouts and suggestions for daily exercise and by sharing their videos on social media using the hashtags #LetsMove #OlympicDay #LugeLove and the tag @Olympics.
National Olympic Committees (NOCs) are organizing more than 130 mass participation and digital activation events around the world, giving everyone the opportunity to get moving in person on Olympic Day. For a complete list of global and local Olympic Day events, visit Olympics.com.
Past and future Olympic hosts will also join the initiative by encouraging people in their local communities to get moving. Paris 2024 (in partnership with the French Ministry of Education and Youth and the Ministry of Sport and the Olympic and Paralympic Games) has already incorporated 30 minutes of physical activity into the school curriculum over the past 12 months, recognizing the many mental and physical health benefits of daily physical activity.
Let's Move on Olympic Day is the first in a series of IOC initiatives to get the world moving. Olympic Day is a global celebration of sport, held every year on 23 June since 1984. Join the movement on Olympics.com and @Olympics.
