FIL Bids Farewell To Margit Dengler-Paar
A Decade Of Shaping Luge Communications
Berchtesgaden (FIL/25 Mar 2026) After ten years of successful service, the International Luge Federation (FIL) bids farewell to its Director of Communications, Margit Dengler-Paar, at her own request.
With the conclusion of the 2025/2026 Olympic season, the former luge athlete is stepping down, behind a legacy of communications work that has contributed significantly to the most successful media and social media season in FIL history.
In recent years, Margit Dengler-Paar served as Director of Communications, overseeing all of FIL’s external communications. Prior to that, she played a key role in establishing and developing the organization’s social media channels. In her role, she combined the responsibilities of press spokesperson and social media manager, playing a decisive role in shaping the global visibility of luge.
Her key responsibilities included the creation and coordination of all press releases, the planning of international communication strategies, the organization of press conferences, and the development and implementation of social media campaigns. In addition, she was responsible for daily reporting in German and English, as well as, for the first time, an increased focus on content in Italian - particularly in view of the Olympic Winter Games Milano Cortina 2026.
“Margit Dengler-Paar has taken FIL’s communications to a new level over the past ten years. With great dedication, international contacts, strategic vision, and a keen sense for storytelling, she has raised the global profile of our sport. On behalf of the entire FIL family, we thank her very much for her extraordinary dedication and passion,” said FIL President Einars Fogelis in recognition of Margit Dengler-Paar’s work.
FIL Executive Director Christoph Schweiger also highlighted her achievements: “Margit has decisively shaped and professionalized the development of FIL communications. She and her team did an outstanding job, particularly during the 2025/2026 Olympic season. We are very pleased that she will continue to support us in an advisory capacity and will help ensure a smooth and trusting transition to her successor.”
Margit Dengler-Paar herself looks back on her time at the FIL with gratitude: “The past ten years have been an incredibly enriching and inspiring time for me. I would like to extend my special thanks to the athletes, coaches, and support staff, the FIL officials, my colleagues at the FIL office, and the international media representatives for their trusting collaboration. Together, we have shared the fascination of our sport with the world—and I am very proud of that.”
In the coming weeks, the FIL will be advertising two new positions in the Communications department to continue and further expand this successful work.
Through her dedication, Margit Dengler-Paar has had a lasting impact on the international perception of luge and laid the foundation for future communication strategies. The FIL thanks her for a decade full of passion, professionalism, and innovation.
