St. Leonhard (FIL) At the meetings of the Expert Commissions held in St. Leonhard near Salzburg, the course was set for the 56th Congress of the International Luge Federation (FIL), which will take place in June 2008 in Calgary, Canada. On June 27/28, the motions relating to sport that have received a two-third majority in the Commissions (Sport and Technical Affairs artificial and natural track) will be submitted to the delegates of the national federations.

In his opening speech, FIL President Josef Fendt from Berchtesgaden looked back on a successful 2007/2008 season in both artificial and natural track luge. Fendt asked the commissions members for stability in connection with the International Luge Regulations and – in view of the successful introduction of the relay competition – for the continuation of the modernization process that was started years ago.

With Claire DelNegro (USA / Sport Artificial Track), Einars Fogelis (LAT / Technical Affairs Artificial Track), Werner Kropsch (AUT / Sport Natural Track) and Alfred Jud (ITA / Technical Affairs Natural Track), all four Vice-Presidents as well as the four athletes representatives of the world federation participated in the Commissions Meetings.

In natural track luge, general questions regarding the further development of the sport were discussed on the same occasion.
