London (pps) The International Luge Federation, FIL, determined the start heights for the Viessmann Luge World Cup on the Olympic luge track in Whistler, Canada, on December 9-10. According to the decision of the FIL Executive Board taken at the Autumn Meeting in London, the start heights for the events in the women’s and men’s singles as well as the doubles are the same as at the 2010 Olympic Winter Games. The so-called Olympic women’s start will be used for the Team Relay Event. However, until the International Training Week in December 2011, “infrastructural improvements have to be added to the start in co-operation with the FIL Track Construction Commission and the FIL Technical Commission”. With the 44th FIL Luge World Championships 2013 in Whistler in mind, the FIL requested the operators, the Whistler Sport Legacies, WSL, to reconstruct the Olympic women’s start. In co-operation with both the FIL Track Construction and Technical Commission the entry angle shall be changed. “Prior to the 2013 World Championships, there will be an additional four days of training with three training runs each for all athletes”, the decision of the Executive Board further reads.
